[Caren is still sitting in the bookstore, about a dozen unopened tomes surrounding her. Her eyes are closed, and she's folded both arms across her torso in various ways.

She looks as if she could doze off at any moment, except, well, wouldn't that be a waste of her time?

She hears Izaya before she sees him, coincidentally, and lifts her head in the direction of the sound before finally opening her eyes. Seeing it's him, she leans back again.]

Sooner or later, you were going to have to pantomime learning braille.

[newt] week 4, friday, at the end of investigation

[When Newt comes to examine the body, Caren steps away from Chuuya silently, laying his head back down on the store floor like it was nothing. She stands in the corner, watching with near-unblinking eyes as he reexamines the evidence. She trusts him, more or less, but nothing's stopping him from making a mistake either unintentionally or on purpose.

Well, she won't be sleeping much after this, will she? They'd slept in shifts together, and now Caren has no one to take turns while she is sleeping. Too bad... but unpreventable.

Or she could fall asleep and see what came sniffing around her. Maybe it would be entertaining.

Caren waits a little longer, hands clasped firmly in front of her. Because the grip is so strong or because it no longer matters, she isn't shaking.]

[Though she and her partner were caught up caring for Eleanor's much more life-threatening wounds, Caren didn't miss Clarke leaving the Live House area quickly after the exploration group stumbled out of it. Her Wednesday night had been spent in that same building, but she's free now, albeit a little groggy and heavy-headed, and Clarke is the first person she wants to find. Not only did the other girl care for her after her own disaster, her fleeing seemed congruous with some sort of shock or worry. Caren is only repaying the favor, though she has no healing skills.]

Good morning. You certainly kept to yourself after everything that happened last night. I was afraid I would be unable to even detect you today.

[In a seat facing the ~~gay baby jail~~ ballpit area, but on the other side of the restaurant, Caren is sitting in front of an untouched tray of food. Her previously-injured hand is wrapped around her cup, which is getting crumplier the longer it sits and gathers condensation. It doesn't look like she's too disgusted to eat or anything, just hung up on her own thoughts about something or other.

Not many people will probably want to be in here after spending nine hours at trial, so Caren might have thought she was alone. To catch Miki's eye--and catch it pretty close to her own table--actually seems to surprise her, if the way her eyes widen and her body perks up is anything to go by.]

Oh, hello. I did not even see you over there. Most people would have lot their appetite by now.

[For someone who just spent the afternoon running from a giant Noise, being impaled, and having her hand broken, Caren looks remarkably like her normal self by the time, after sleeping like the dead, that she's able to summon the energy to find the man with whom she has a tentative agreement to trade information.

She catches him by himself in the morning, after the crowd around the cafe has died down, though multiple bloody handprints and stains from where she, Monika, and Chuuya crashed to the street are still there. How sobering.]

Izaya Orihara, [she announces, loud enough that she should be able to both hear her and determine her location.] Something happened yesterday I thought you'd like to hear about. Why don't we find a place to sit down?

[She seeks out Anthy a little later, after the clamor around Max has calmed down, leaving her meditative Starbucks visit to walk back past the Moyoi statue to the abandoned buses. It only gives her pause for a moment when she passes the now-spotless Hachiko(?) statue. She's a little shaken by the inefficacy of her prayer, and maybe that's what makes her come, or the difference between a smile and a blank expression.]

I won't take up too much of your time, Anthy Himemiya.

We didn't simply leave her out there. Monika made sure she was covered. Does such a little thing matter...? I don't have the answer to that.
